            After several paintings of gardens, this painting and its companion piece, "Path 2", evolved.  It is a simplification of the idea of a walk through the garden.  The "path" is fixed to a rectangular opening, inviting the viewer to enter.  The garden elements one might encounter on this walk are also simplified to two:  the plant form or leaf and the rock shapes along a path.  The images seem to float in space creating a timelessness and quiet to the explorer's journey.
